Teacher Agreement Reached

The union representing Ontario`s secondary school teachers has reached a preliminary agreement with the province – the last of the education unions to do so. “The agreed language gives members of the WTU bargaining unit the opportunity to say, `Yes, I will come back` or `No, I don`t feel safe` if they return in Term 2 to our school buildings and for school communities to visit their schools, to verify that the necessary improvements are in place before reopening,” Davis wrote in a letter to teachers Thursday night. The news of the agreement followed a three-year contract recently ratified by the Ontario Association of Catholic Teachers, as well as preliminary contracts recently signed by the Ontario Teachers` Federation and AEFO, which represents French teachers in the province.
